FAQ: What to Do If You Accidentally Cancel an Emburse Card

If you accidentally cancel an Emburse Card in Emburse Spend, you cannot undo the cancellation. However, you can quickly issue a replacement card to restore access and reduce disruption for your employees.

This article explains what happens when a card is canceled and the fastest way to replace it.

Can I reactivate a canceled Emburse card?

No. Once a physical or virtual Emburse card is canceled, it cannot be edited or reactivated. If a card was canceled by mistake, you must create a replacement card.

What should I do after I cancel a card by mistake?

You have two options, depending on your situation.

Option 1: Duplicate the canceled card

You can duplicate a canceled physical or virtual card, which is the fastest way to restore access.

  1. Go to Team Cards.
  2. Use the Card Status filter to locate the canceled card.

  3. Select More actionsMore Actions and then select Duplicate Card.

  4. From the dropdown, select the Employee and review the card details.

  5. Select Issue Card.

The system creates a new card with similar settings to the cancelled card.

Option 2: Create and assign a new card

If you prefer not to duplicate the canceled card, you can create and assign a new card. See Create and Assign Emburse Cards.

What if I canceled physical cards?

If you canceled one or more physical cards:

  • You can order replacement physical cards individually or in bulk.
  • You can upgrade shipping to expedited delivery, if needed.

Can users keep spending while waiting for replacement cards?

Yes. You can issue virtual cards immediately while users wait for their physical cards to arrive.
