Mobile App Notifications for American Express® Transactions

If your organization has connected an American Express® Card Program in Emburse Spend, you can choose whether to receive notifications about your transaction activity. These notifications help you track purchases, capture receipts, and monitor transaction status directly from the mobile app.

Depending on your organization’s card program configuration, transactions may appear in real time or after they are posted by American Express.

Prerequisites

  • Your organization has connected an eligible American Express Card Program.
  • You have an active Emburse Spend user account.
  • You are logged in to Emburse Spend on desktop.
  • The Emburse Spend mobile app is installed on your smartphone.

Access Your Notification Settings

  1. In Emburse Spend on desktop, select your name in the upper right corner.
  2. Select Personal Settings.
  3. In the left sidebar, select Notifications.
Emburse Spend desktop Notifications page under Personal Settings, showing email, push, and Slack notification options with checkboxes. The Notifications option is highlighted in the left sidebar, and the Personal Settings menu is open in the top-right account dropdown.

Enable Or Disable American Express® Transaction Notifications

In Notifications, you can turn notifications on or off based on your preferences.

Emburse push notifications will appear on your smartphone if you have the Emburse Spend mobile app installed.

You can manage the following notification types:

  • Reminder to capture receipts on American Express transactions: After your American Express card is used for a purchase, you receive a notification prompting you to capture and upload a receipt.
  • A queued expense submits successfully: A queued expense associated with your American Express transaction is submitted automatically in the mobile app. The expense moves from your Unexpensed screen into the approval workflow.
  • A queued expense failed to submit and needs review: A queued expense could not be submitted automatically. The expense returns to your Unexpensed screen and requires edits before you resubmit it.
  • A pending transaction is voided: A transaction previously marked as Pending is canceled by the merchant. For example, this may occur when a temporary authorization hold is removed from your American Express card.

Additionally, if your organization has configured the Slack integration, you may receive related notifications in Slack.

Result

After you update your preferences, you will receive mobile notifications for American Express transactions based on the options you selected.
