Using Foreign Currencies

When you incur an expense in a foreign currency, Emburse Spend converts it to your home currency. If you pull in card transactions on a connected card, any transaction made in a foreign currency is already converted to your home currency when it displays in your account.

Administrators can set a default home currency for international employees. See Setting a Home Currency for Your International Employees for details.

Exchange Rates and Conversion

When an expense is submitted in a different currency, Emburse Spend applies the exchange rate for that expense date and records the amount in your home currency. By default, the exchange rate for the expense date is applied. If you change the expense date, the correct exchange rate for that day is applied automatically. We use Open exchange rate for the reimbursement conversion.

For corporate card transactions, the conversion is done by the bank.

When you export this data to a CSV, each expense line includes the amount in your home currency and the amount in the foreign currency used for the purchase. For more information on exporting expense data to a CSV or PDF, see How Can I Export My Expense Data (CSV and PDF).
