Tax Support
Tax support is currently available only for Australian customers.
Administrators set up tax profiles in Company Settings, and employees select the applicable tax profile when they submit expenses.
Prerequisites
- You have administrator access in Emburse Spend to set up tax profiles.
- Tax support is enabled on your organization account.
Set up Tax Profiles
If your organization uses the Emburse Connector, tax profiles sync into Emburse Spend automatically. When the Emburse Connector imports items, you cannot create tax profiles manually, and any previously manually created tax profiles are also disabled.
- Go to Company Settings and select Tax Profiles.
-
The Tax Profiles list displays each profile's status, name, applicable taxes, currency, and source. The Source column identifies profiles created manually in Emburse Spend as Manual.
- Select ADD TAX PROFILE to create a profile, or select the edit icon on an existing profile to update it.
-
In the tax profile drawer, configure the following:
- Name: Enter a name for the tax profile.
- Currency Code: Select the currency for the profile.
- Tax Name: Enter the tax name. Use the toggle next to the tax name to enable or disable the tax.
- Rate (%): Enter the tax rate as a percentage.
- From and To: Set the effective dates for the rate.
- ADD RATE: Add another effective rate row for the same tax when the rate changes over time.
- ADD TAX: Add another tax to the profile when multiple taxes apply.
- Select SAVE to save the tax profile.
Add Tax to an Expense
- When tax support is enabled for your organization, the expense drawer can include a Tax Profile field.
- The Tax Profile field displays only when your organization has an enabled tax profile for the currency you select on the expense. For example, if your administrator set up a Canada tax profile for CAD, the field displays when the expense currency is CAD.
- Select the tax profile that applies to the expense before you submit it.
For submission steps, see Submit Reimbursable Expenses and Submit Corporate Card Transactions.
Sync Taxes to Your Accounting System
Tax sync for NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and QuickBooks Online applies only when your organization uses the Emburse Connector. The following table summarizes tax support for those connectors.
- Go to Company Settings and select Accounting Integration.
- Confirm that Emburse Connector is displayed.
| Connector | Tax Support |
|---|---|
| Emburse NetSuite Connector | Syncs multiple tax types. |
| Emburse Intacct Connector | Syncs multiple tax types. |
| Emburse QuickBooks Online Connector | Syncs one tax type. QuickBooks Online pre-groups tax, so Emburse Spend sends a single tax type. |
If Emburse Connector is not displayed on the Accounting Integration page, tax data does not sync to your accounting system. Export tax data manually. See Export Your Expense Data (CSV and PDF).
