New User Activation Workflows with SSO

When you have SSO configured and invite your users, there are different workflows to be aware of depending on your authentication settings.

The first step is to bulk invite your users from the People screen. You can do this by selecting your Pending users, and then checking the box next to their usernames.

Next, click Invite to bulk invite the selected users.

If you are allowing password logins…

When your users receive the invite, they will need to click “Accept Invite”. Because you are allowing password logins, they will be prompted to create a local password for Emburse Spend. After they complete the setup of their account, they will be able to log in with your identity provider (Okta, Google, Azure, etc) and click on the Emburse Spend tile to log in. They will also be able to log in with their local password and email address.

If you are only allowing SSO logins…

Users need to be invited to Emburse Spend from the People tab, and they still need to click to “Accept Invite” in the email to activate their account. This will take them to a screen that shows they have been invited to join Emburse Spend via the Identity Provider.

After activating, users should go to the identity provider website, meaning they should go to OneLogin, Azure, or Google. Then they should click on the tile for the Emburse Spend app that has been created. This will log them into Emburse Spend.

Mobile App

In order to access Emburse Spend using SSO on the mobile app, users must first download the Emburse Spend mobile app from the App Store on iOS devices or the Google Play Store on Android devices.

Once they have downloaded the app, they will need to go through their identity provider (OneLogin, Azure, or Google) to log in for the first time. To do so, they must log in to their identity provider through the identity provider’s mobile app or through their website on mobile. Then, they can click to open Emburse Spend from the identity provider app or site.
