Use and Manage Your Physical and Virtual Emburse Cards

Emburse Cards are physical and virtual corporate cards that you can request or have issued to you through Emburse Spend. Your card may have spending restrictions set by your Admin. 

If you receive a notification that your Emburse card has expired, you must contact your organization's Emburse Cards administrator to issue a new card. A new card will not be sent out automatically upon expiration.

Activate and Use Your Emburse Card

After you receive your virtual or physical Emburse Card, you will be prompted to activate it either via email or at emburse.com/activate.

Add Your Card to Your Mobile Wallet

Physical and virtual Emburse Cards can be added to Apple Pay for iOS or Google Pay on Android for easy online and in-person purchasing from your phone.

UK Emburse Cards are not currently enabled for Apple Pay.

Use Your Card

Once the card is active, you can use it anywhere Visa or Mastercard is accepted in the US or internationally.

If your Emburse card is declined, you will receive a text and email notification explaining why the transaction did not go through.

View Card Details and Status

You can see all of your active Emburse Cards on your Personal Dashboard when you log in to Emburse Spend on the Web.

Alternatively, you may click Cards in your Personal sidebar to see all your active cards.

On the Cards screen, you will see a history of your card requests, and all of your issued cards will be available for you to view their details.

Your active and not activated cards will be visible by default. To view other cards, use the Status filter:

  • Active: Physical or virtual cards that can be used
  • Suspended: Physical or virtual cards that cannot be used but can be reinstated
  • Canceled: Physical or virtual cards that can no longer be used or reinstated
  • Not Activated: Physical cards that haven't yet been activated
  • Cards screen Status filter set to Active and additional statuses

Click View Card Details to see more info about each card.

On the Card Details screen you will be able to see the Cardholder's name, card number, billing address, card frequency, card availability, transaction limit (if you have one), and, if specified, the merchants for which your card may be used.

You may also view a list of the transactions associated with the card. 

If the card has been lost or stolen, you may report it by clicking on the red Report As Lost or Stolen link. under the card image. This will take you to the Emburse Cards site, where you will need to log in using your Emburse Card credentials.

Pause or Cancel an Active Card

Occasionally, you may need to pause or suspend a reccurring card or cancel your Emburse Card completely. 

  1. Click View Card Details on any active card on your Dashboard or the Cards screen.

  2. Use the buttons at the top of the screen to Pause or Cancel the selected card.

View and Manage Cards on Mobile

You can access your Emburse Card details on the Emburse Spend mobile app by clicking Cards in the menu in the upper right corner. You will be able to toggle between the card details and transactions views.

  • The Details view displays the card information, which shows the card number if you have a virtual card, and the policy settings your admin put in place when creating the card. This includes spending limits, budgets, card availability and merchant restrictions. You will also see the option to report your card lost or stolen at the bottom of this screen.
  • The Transactions view will show all posted and unexpensed transactions for your card.
