Emburse Spend Release Notes - September 2026

This release documents the Accountant user role for web administrators, availability of Emburse Spend for organizations in Australia on the Spend International stack, and Project Resourcing for selected Nexonia, RSM, and Australia customers who use the Emburse connector. The release also includes Emburse Spend mobile app updates, internationalization improvements for tax and company-currency amounts, and fixes for Emburse Connectors, card management, and the Assurance Dashboard.

Update to the latest Emburse Spend mobile app for the fixes and improvements listed in Improvements → MOBILE APP, below:

  • iOS: 2.0.3
  • Android: 3.0.3

Highlights

  • New mobile app versions available: Update to iOS 2.0.3 or Android 3.0.3 for Australia region selection at sign-in.

  • Accountant user role: Assign a dedicated Accountant role on the People screen so accounting staff can manage configuration, accounting sync, and approvals without full Admin access.
  • Emburse Spend in Australia: Emburse Spend is now available for organizations in Australia on the regional instance, with AUD defaults, tax in Expense Details, and kilometer-based mileage.
  • Project Resourcing for NetSuite and Intacct: Selected Nexonia, RSM, and Australia customers who use the Emburse connector can sync employee-to-project assignments so users see only the Project values they are resourced to when coding expenses.

Features

ADMIN

Accountant User Role Available

Emburse Spend includes an Accountant user role alongside Admin, Manager, and Member. Administrators can assign the Accountant role on the People screen so accounting staff can support expense and accounting workflows without granting full Admin permissions.

Accountants can be assigned as manager approvers and can view virtual cards without issuing or managing cards. Accountants can edit user details on the People screen but cannot add or remove users. Accountants can update company information and configure reimbursements and payout schedules, accounting connections, exports, categories, expense and team fields, reminders, app integrations, and Trips. SAML or SSO configuration, two-factor authentication, company bank account updates, account closure, card program management, and enabling Bill Pay remain Admin-only. Final Approval requires Admin permissions.

Reimbursable prepare-for-sync and payment actions remain Admin-only. When the Accounting page is enabled, Accountants can use transaction on-demand sync, view accounting sync history, and re-sync failed sync records. When the Accounting page is disabled, accounting sync is unavailable to the Accountant role.

Accountant users can view export templates created by administrators and use those templates when exporting transactions. Mobile app support for the Accountant role is not included in this release.

See Manage Users on the People Screen for role assignment steps.

INTERNATIONAL

Emburse Spend Available in Australia (Spend International)

Emburse Spend is now available for organizations in Australia on the Spend International regional stack. Australian organizations sign in at https://au1.spend.emburse.com/.

Australian organizations receive Australia-specific defaults, including AUD as the default company currency, tax support in Expense Details, and kilometer-based mileage. ACH payments and Emburse Cards issuing are not currently supported for Australian Spend.

Deployment schedule: Available to organizations in Australia.

See Set Up Your Emburse Spend Account for general onboarding guidance.

INTEGRATIONS

Project Resourcing Support for NetSuite and Sage Intacct Connectors

Project Resourcing limits the Project values each user can select when creating or editing expenses. Employee-to-project relationships from NetSuite or Sage Intacct can sync to Emburse Spend through the Emburse Connectors so users code expenses to the projects they are assigned to in your ERP.

When Project Resourcing is enabled in your ERP and connector configuration, users see a filtered Project list instead of the full project catalog. This reduces coding errors and speeds up expense submission for organizations with large project lists.

Deployment schedule: Available to selected Nexonia, RSM, and Australia customers who use the Emburse NetSuite Connector or Emburse Intacct Connector.

Project Resourcing applies only to selected Nexonia, RSM, and Australia customers.

See Configure the Emburse NetSuite Connector or Configure the Emburse Intacct Connector for Customers and Projects settings.

Improvements

INTERNATIONAL

VAT and GST Tax Support

Emburse Spend improves value-added tax (VAT) and goods and services tax (GST) support for international organizations. VAT capture and tax profile workflows are enabled by default for new Australian organizations, and the mobile app supports VAT and GST fields when entering and viewing expenses.

Company Currency as Primary Expense Amount

On the Emburse Spend mobile app, expense amounts display and export using your organization’s company currency as the primary amount. This aligns mobile views and exports with how amounts are recorded for multi-currency organizations.

MOBILE APP

New Mobile App Versions Available

Emburse Spend mobile app updates are available on iOS 2.0.3 and Android 3.0.3. These updates are delivered through the App Store and Google Play when you update the app.

Deployment schedule: Available when you update the app from the App Store or Google Play.

iOS: 2.0.3 | Android: 3.0.3

This release includes:

  • Australia region selection: Select United States or Australia during sign-in so the app connects to the correct regional Spend instance.
  • VAT and GST on mobile: Enter and view VAT or GST on expenses in the mobile app when your organization uses international tax settings.
  • Company currency amounts: View and export expense amounts in your organization’s company currency on mobile.

Bug Fixes

CARDS

Cardholder Updates and Manager Card Issuance

When a user updated profile details, cardholder records did not always update for organizations with connected card programs that are not American Express CPG. User profile updates now sync to cardholder records when a card program is connected.

Managers with a zero-dollar card issuance limit could still see Create Card when manager card issuing was enabled. The Create Card action is now hidden for managers who cannot issue cards under the configured limit.

ADMIN

Assurance Dashboard Display and Controls

These fixes apply to organizations that use the Emburse Assurance add-on. See Emburse Assurance Overview for Emburse Spend.

On the Assurance Dashboard, chart rows could resize when you moved the pointer over Assurance Checks by Type and Flagged Spend charts. Chart layout now remains stable on hover.

The welcome dashboard displayed an Assurance Mode toggle that did not apply to all Assurance customers. Unnecessary Assurance Mode controls are removed from the welcome dashboard.

Flagged and submitted amount values on the Assurance Dashboard could display as undefined. Amount values now display correctly on dashboard charts.
